Team ride

Our race team trains together on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and as luck would have it, we've already had a few killer Tuesday night rides on our southern route through south Stark and northern Tusc County. Yesterday was very animated and the Cat 3 squad really dropped the hammer on the rest of us. I am close to upgrading to Cat 3 and when I do so, I hope to be able to hang on over the multiple climbs on this route.

I have generally been doing solid CrossFit workouts when rx'd, except when a race date nears so I am fresh for the race. I need to rethink that approach and make sure I rest prior to Tuesdays, and not worry so much about race day. The team rides are significantly tougher than most races. After an all out effort to try and stay with the lead group on the climbs, I typically find myself on my own or joined by 1-2 others in a time trial effort to tag back on on the descent and flats. There are probably 2 to 3 times during this ride when I am completely in the red for what seems to be 5+ minutes. I absolutely love it...even though I am usually cursing. My goal is by mid-year, be up with the lead group on this ride. It will be a tough one to achieve.

Anyways, back to some CrossFit topics...I hope to talk some people into a Fran workout soon as a test for improvement. Our group last did this 2/13/09, so maybe a mid or late April date will be a good choice.
