When I checked the CrossFit site last night and saw 'Filthy 50' on tap for Thursday, I was pumped. Only issue is that I had planned to do our team ride in the afternoon and with the ride to and from the meeting point, that's about 50 miles...why not do it all? A real filthy 50.
CrossFit WOD
50 Box jump, 24 inch box
50 Jumping pull-ups
50 Kettlebell swings, 35 lbs
50 Walking Lunge steps
50 Knees to elbows (hanging from a pullup bar)
50 Push press, 45 pounds
50 Back extensions
50 Wall ball shots with 20 pound ball
50 Burpees (from standing position, drop to a push up, then jump feet up to your hands, then jump in the air, repeat)
50 Double unders w/jumprope or knee tuck jumps
then my addition...
50 road bike miles (albeit 4 hours after the above)
Only part of the 50 not done as prescribed was the 24" box jumps. I had to back off on some of the leg stuff due to the evening ride. My time for completing it was around 30 minutes. Hardest part was the burpees no doubt. They don't sound to bad, but I had to break them down in sets of 10 with small rests. Surprised myself witha quick time on the knees to elbows.
The team ride was great. Rode with Erik from our workplace for a good warm up, met up with ~13 others, and did the 35 mile ride. Erik and Brent (and me) pushed the pace a few times. Mike S. pulled me back up after getting dropped by the mach looney speed duo of Erik and Brent. Had a few new faces out there too. It's great when newer people join up and you see the team growing and the sport continually reaching new people.
Now time to eat, rest, and get ready to empty the tank at RATL again Saturday...
